Ben Sorensen - Managing Director
Ben joined Octantis in 2006 at the time of incorporation bringing commercial focus to clients and technology honed through five years as Kazaa's Commercial Manager and senior executive roles with public companies MYOB Ltd and Gowing Bros Ltd. Most of the last decade has been spent running global businesses under contract from Octantis and secondment to clients. Ben's forte is the indentification and implementation of high-value strategic business opportunities in IT and Licensed Properties. Since 2008, Ben was retained as consulting General Manager to Bagsfirst Global Pty Ltd with a remit to start-up operations and commericalise worldwide exclusive licenses for the supply of product for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. Norberto (aka Beto) was Engineering Manager at AOL-Time Warner, responsible for releasing massively popular online products, such as AIM, AOL Shop, Search and the ubiquitous AOL Client software to the Australian market. After AOL, he moved to Kazaa to manage their systems at the peak of the P2P era, and eventually worked architecting the next generation of the Kazaa software using a hybrid P2P approach and various modern protocols. He later led with Cisco the technical development of a router which performs DPI and cleans up P2P data streams, providing extra revenue stream for content providers and ISPs. Beto now spends lots of time in the VFX world, surrounded by HPC and large clustered filesystems, as well as providing solutions to clients of Octantis. Connect on LinkedIn.
