Octantis was founded in 2005 by four of the technologists behind the development and management of the Kazaa peer-to-peer  application (p2p) and was incorporated in 2006. The close business relationship with the owners of Kazaa was extended with Octantis awarded a Managed Services Agreement in late 2006 covering all aspects of Kazaa p2p development, business process outsourcing, licensing, commercial management and operational assistance with the significant legal challenges facing Kazaa at the time.

Since 2006, Octantis' multi-national team has consulted to government bodies, provided expert witness testimony and worked with numerous high-technology start-ups and established operations in the US, Middle East, Asia, Europe and Australia.
